Modern paving stones are being used during the development happening in Fethiye’s side streets. The paving stones have been shipped in specially from Istanbul by cargo ship which docked into Fethiye Bay.

The stones are being used in the new development, people with special needs will find it more accessible to venture around the area.

The work is very important due to the fact that the area floods in heavy rain due to the drainage system not being able to cope.

The new drainage for the roads were dug out to a depth of 3 meters and now many parts have the paving stones laid and these parts are looking very nice, but there is still much to do.

Businesses in the area have complained due to the disruption but the benefits that will be gained will make the disruption worthwhile.

The Mayor has stated that they are trying to do their best and give the job 100%, they are not trying to disrupt businesses any longer than is necessary.

The Credit crunch has caused all building work in the UK to cease, but despite this world wide crisis Fethiye continues to go full speed ahead building a variety of high quality homes.

Villas and apartments are still being built in the area despite a general down-turn in the economy.

There are homes from as little as £40.000 to £250.000 that are being snatched up by British buyers, ready to sit it out for the long term, and planning their retirement in the sunshine, joining over 3,000 expats now living in the area and enjoying their new life here.

It is not surprising that this trend will continue.
