Fethiye & Surrounding Area

Fethiye is a city and a district of Mugla Province at the hillsides of the Mount Mendos, the part of the Tourus Mountain chains, and surrounds the bay that it has given its name to.

Fethiye with its cultural wealth, natural beauties and geography, is among the important tourism centres of Turkey.

Calis - This is one of the primary Accommodation and entertainment centers within the boundaries of the Municipality.

Calls is a very nice holiday center with a shore of many kilometers, the glittering sea opening up to the outer bay and with stunningly beautiful sun-sets. The Calls beach is 6 kms. extending as far as the Kariy River.

Dalaman -

Dalyan - If its history your after then why not visit Dalyan, there you will find the ruins of ancient Caunos, the 20,000 seat Amphitheatre, Roman Baths, Acroppolis and the ancient city walls. From many of the Dalyan hotels you can clearly see the amazing rock tombs, carved in the face of the hills across the river, and why not visit the famous mud baths and sulphur springs.

Dalyan is a must for nature lovers. The small fishing town of Dalyan is located within the wildlife sanctuary of the Dalyan Delta, and home to no less that 152 varieties of birds, and three types of turtles, including the protected loggerhead "Caretta Caretta" sea turtle. As the river meets the sea, stretch out on Turtle Beach a stunning 6km stretch of beach, with excellent swimming and a protected loggerhead turte population. Turtle Beach has excellent fine sand with sparkling clear water which remains uncrowded. By day Dalyan has a selection of small shops and its market day on Saturday.

Kayakoy - Beyond the Fethiye fortress going south, if you follow the road climbing up to the slope some 7 km. you can come to a magnificent lowland where Anatolian Greeks had lived until 1922. Greeks called the town Levissi in the past. Kaya Köyü in the year 1922 during the exchange of Turks in Thrace with Anatolian Greeks was evacuated and the new residents did not take up the existing houses. Kaya become a 'Ghost Town' as an abandoned town after 1923.
